You won't believe your eyes…
Founded in 1869, the American Museum of Natural History in New York is one of the largest cultural establishments in the city and even the state. The museum building is surrounded by a park, an oasis of nature in the heart of Manhattan island. The museum's collections include no less than 32 million specimens, artefacts and items, and the collection grows every year with the numerous museum-funded scientific expeditions.
Discover the wealth and beauty of the world's flora and fauna. Some displays, such as the life-sized replica of a blue whale, are simply awe-inspiring.
You will also find an impressive anthropological collection, for example in the Grand Hall you will see a painted and sculpted twenty foot long Haida war canoe, which has been fully restored.
Finally, don't miss the opportunity to admire the largest blue sapphire in the world!
