Cathedral Church of St. John The Divine

A gigantic cathedral which is full of surprises.
The seat of the Archbishop of New York, the Cathedral of St John the Divine is the construction that beat all records… The construction was extensive, starting in 1892 and work stopped over a century later. It is one of the largest cathedrals in the world, and its rose window is made up of over 10,000 pieces of stained glass.
The scale of the nave itself defies the imagination, so take the time to admire this part of the edifice which can accommodate two full-scale football fields… Since 1973 the cathedral also boasts a Biblical botany section where a number of plant varieties mentioned in the Bible are grown. The cathedral is also a venue for the arts, hosting exhibitions, concerts, performances and poetry readings.
