Empire State Building
Art deco on the New York skyline.
Inaugurated on May 1st, 1931, the Empire State Building was, for many years, the tallest building in the world, at 381 metres in height and comprising 102 floors. From the observatory on the 86th floor, visitors can see the whole city laid out before them and marvel at its effervescence.
Made even more famous by the movie King Kong, which was released in 1933, the Empire State Building has since appeared in several movies and TV shows. The art deco form of the Empire State Building is recognised around the world and has become a veritable symbol of the American metropolis.
