The fourth and final Grand Slam tennis tournament of the season, the US Open is held at the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, New York, every year.
Popular with players who excel on quick surfaces, the competition remains one of the most prestigious on the circuit and attracts the elite of international single and doubles tennis. Molla Bjurstedt Mallory, Chris Evert, Steffi Graf and Martina Navratilova for the women and William Larned, Jimmy Connors, Pete Sampras and Roger Federer for the men are some of the names to have marked the history of the US Open since 1881.
